あれいよいよCorePlayer v1.0（TCPMP）のリリースが10/16に設定されたようだ。有料にはなるけど、そのパフォーマンスに満足できない人はいないはず。CorePlayer v1.0（TCPMP）のリリースは10/16だ！！ :: pocketgames :: PDA秘宝館（W-ZERO3応援団）TCPMP って GPL でソースコードが公開されているんだけど、シェアウェアになるの?
と思ってフォーラムを見てみると、本当にシェアウェア化するらしい
Q: What is CorePlayer FREE?ということで、Free 版も 30日の試用機関を過ぎても継続的に使えるようだが、一部機能や対応コーデックに制限がかかるようだ。今の TCPMP では AAC などのパテントのあるコーデックは(公式には)利用できないので、その辺りに商用版で対応するのかもしれない。 逆に ffmpeg codec のような OSS ベースのものは使われなくなるんだろうか。codec だけ別途配布するのかもしれないが。
A: CP Free is a 30 trial version of CorePlayer that after 30 days will revert back to all the non-paid codecs but all the other codecs will still be fully functional.
Q: What is the differerecne between CorePlayer FREE and CorePlayer?
A: They are seperate products. CorePlayer FREE does not have all the features of CorePlayer CoreCodec.com: CorePlayer, BetaPlayer & CoreAVC H.264 Codec - CorePlayer 1.0 Available on October 16th
さて今の TCPMP の方がどうなるかというところだが
およよ。とりあえず今使うあてがあるひとは CorePlayer を買う買わないに関わらずダウンロードしておいた方が良さそうな気がする。- Projects at CoreCodec.org are being brought over one project at a time 'manually' to the new CoreForge.org... this means TCPMP will not be available other then a static page for a few days to download.
さて新しい Core Player だが、 1.0 でシェアウェアになってお終いではなく、将来の新機能も計画されているようだ。
As it stands right now;
- we will likely only have HTTP/UDP rather then the full streaming suite for 1.0 as there is still some RFC's for RTP/RTSP that need to be tweaked.
- Seek and Share Social Networking will be added in 1.2 - 1.3 as we refine its functionality with permissions with the CoreAccount system.
- Universal Skins will not feature Alpha blending in 1.0 (this effects the Vista Aero interface).
- CoreSYNC will also not be till 1.4 but we will begin testing with 1.1.CoreCodec.com: CorePlayer, BetaPlayer & CoreAVC H.264 Codec - Yet Another Question About Release Dates
Seek and Share SNSと言うのは友達同士で見付けた動画をシェアするようなしくみだろうか。
過去に書いた PalmOS で動画を再生 - TCPMP を見るに、Palm での動画再生ソフトが mmplayer しかなかった頃に TCPMP が出て衝撃を受けた時からまだ 1年半しか経っていないのか。mmplayer でも「あーPalmで動画が再生できるー」と喜んでいたものだが、再生できるフォーマットやビットレートに相当の制限があり、あまり使いものにならなかった。そこに出た TCPMP では Palm (XScale 400MHz) が動画を見る道具として「実用品」として動いてしまい、大きな衝撃を受けたものだ。OSS でなくなるのは寂しいが、Seek and Share などの新機能や AAC などの商用コーデックへの正式対応に期待したい。
