Access Linux Platform Release Date Slips
ACCESS Linux Platform (仮称. 以下ALP) のデベロッパーバージョンのリリース時期が 2006年中から 2007年前半に延期されたというニュース。Q. What will ACCESS name future versions of the operating system?一応デモ版がLinux Worldで動いていたはずなんだが、はてさて。
A. We are currently using the code name ACCESS Linux Platform for our next generation operating system. We will announce the official name of the ACCESS Linux Platform when we announce that it is available to our licensees and developers?expected sometime in the first half of 2007.ACCESS Licenses Palm OS Garnet Source Code to Palm, Inc.

ACCESS Says ALP Release Has Not Slipped
と思ったら、ACCESSは「いや、全て計画どおりだ。問題無い。」と言うコメントを出したようだ。ACCESS has previously stated that they plan to deliver a pre-release version of the ACCESS Linux Platform PDK to select licensees, and a pre-release version of the ACCESS Linux Platform SDK to select registered developers before the end of this year, and that general availability would be in the first half of 2007.ACCESS Says ALP Release Has Not Slipped元々 2006年中に出すのは限られた相手用のプレリリース版で、公式な開発版が2007年前半だというのは「当初の計画通り」としている。しかしコメントにもあるように
ACCESS and PalmSource expect to make the ALP Software Developer Kit (SDK) available to its licensees by the end of this year (2006). ACCESS and PalmSource Announce the ACCESS Linux Platform - Press Release今年8月の時点では SDK を今年中に出すって言ってたんだよね。やっぱり遅れてるんではないの?
実際問題としては初めのスケジュールよりも遅れているかどうかより、これで ALP 搭載端末が出るとしても2007年中は難しくなったんじゃないか、と言う方が深刻なのかも。Garnet との住み分けもするようだし、そもそも ALP は Palm としてというより携帯電話向けに注力するつもりなのだろうから、あまり期待しない方がいいような気はしてきた。
